In June 2025, the CSL team headed up to Inuvik to install the bee boxes.
The Grade 3 class at East Three Elementary School built them (didn’t they do a great job!?) and we then installed them. The boxes are painted (with a nature-safe paint) a neutral colour so that they can blend in with the foliage. The paper on top explains to any curious passers-by what these boxes are.
We had to wait until there was no longer any snow on the ground before installing the bee boxes. We’re looking forward to finding out which of the bee boxes, if any, were inhabited! There are plans to install further bee boxes in a different location in Summer 2026.
